The meaning behind the date '31' of Merdeka Day.

The Merdeka is a Sanskrit word "Mahardika" which means unlimited freedom or independence. When Indonesia proclaimed self-Independence in 1945 from the Dutch, they used the word Mahardika but adapted the word to Indonesian "merdeka" which means freedom from slavery, colonisation and independent of others. Compared to other SEA except Phillipines, Indonesia was colonized longer than any other country for more than 300 hundred years. They fought hard for 5 years, forming river of bloods to achieve merdeka.

But Malaysia is a Land of Ong where we were granted merdeka with peace and harmony. It is truly a land of peace (Sanskrit, shanti) and harmony (Sanskrit :santosa/sajahtera) and in Latin pax/quies quietis.

Why the date 31st and not others?
Quoted from the Governor of Penang, YAB Tun Dato' Seri Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Abbas who said,

"3 races (Malay, Chinese and Indian) uniting with one heart to attain independence from the 1 colonizer, British. And that is why the date 31 was chosen.

And why August, my guess August means venerated, grand, magnificient, noble, awe, inspiring. So August month is a venerated and noble month for auspicious and magnificient event Merdeka. People in the West sometimes name their new born baby in August as Augustus etc. So any new born baby in Malaysia on the 31st can try the names of Merdeka(freedom)/Ogos/August. Sweet isnt it? We have names like Juli (July), May, March, Khamis, Jumaat and I know an Indian man with the name Malaysia and another one Melaka (Sanskrit name of a tree) where Merdeka was celebrated. Their parents must surely be very patriotic and hope we all have the same spirit forever.

Here is the last mantra of Rigveda… A verse which is dedicated to the human world and is a prayer for harmony and peace among us.

samani va akutih samana hrdayani vah samanamastu vomano yatha vah susahasati

Meaning: Let there be oneness in your resolutions, hearts and minds. Let the strength to live with mutual co-operation be firm in you all.

This mantra comes back to the simplicity of the fact of being human: a union of hearts and a oneness of spirit, the overcoming of isolating individualisms by harmonious living together, because Man as person is always society and yet not plural.

Position 1 to 3

As a child, you are somewhat rebellious and a free spirit. You have an innate creativity and work best when you are given a free hand. Generally, your superiors like your avante garde approach to life. If you have a mole here, you are far better off in business and being your own boss rather than working for somebody. What is promising is that you have the luck to be your own boss.

Position 4

You are an impulsive person, often acting with a flamboyance that gives you charisma and a sparkling personality, but you can be difficult when there are too many opinions. Position 8

This is not a very good position for a mole. Your financial position will constantly be under strain because of a tendency to overspend. You also have a penchant for gambling. Always Always Be Your Self!
By just being yourself you can accomplish quite a lot.
I hear the taunts of my past,
But I always remind myself that the past is the past,
And if I look at it all the time,
I will miss the road to the future.

I see people hiding behind masks,
Masks which could be thrown away,
And, if you have sincere friends,
They always love you for what you are,
Not for what you appear to be.

I choose to stay this way,
Nothing will ever change me,
For I want to be strong as a rock,
And just change for improvements.

Always Always Be Yourself!
For that is the best way to learn to be a better being.
I touched my face,
To make sure I am not wearing a mask.

Sometimes I get worry that people’s distinctive personality will vanish slowly
And painfully under that sham.
I feel upset when I see and think of people
Who waste their potential and personality to please a few people.

I understand that some people yearn for friends,
But they should look for them by being themselves.
Just expose our real selves,
Someday we will be able to find out who our friends are in reality!

I am me and am not an act.
